Does anyone know where I can buy the plate that goes between the 4.0 and Aw4? I've searched and searched and can't find it to save my life. Thanks for the help,
Trent.
Sorry for a double post it won't let me edit my last one?
I've been searching and searching and thinking and I thought of a couple things.
The flex plate I took out didn't look cracked at all but the torque converter holes were ovaled out. This in my mind points to the torque converter even...
My engine runs great like a bat out of hell is it possible for it to run this way and have bad bearings/be out of balance? I really dont know what to do.
Alright guys I have some interesting issues here. Just replaced my flex plate and when I first started it the flex plate knock went away. Started it today and its back. Can a bad torque converter cause play enough for the bolts in the flex plate to hit things? It seems like that's a LOT of play...
Thanks guys I finally got it buttoned up. I leveled it out a little more on the jack and messed with heights until finally it slid together. I feel relieved. All I have left to do is get the exhaust on and figure out the transfer case linkage now.
Alright so I checked the TC and it's in there fine. I was able to get one of the dowel pins in and bolted up (not tight yet) to the engine. But the passenger side dowel pin is just above where it needs to be. I've messed around with shims and what not with little luck. So I came up with an idea...
Anyone have tips on re-installing the AW4 transmission? I've been searching and searching and haven't found any tips. In the middle of doing a flex plate swap on a 1996 4x4 xj. I have the transmission only about 1/8 inch away from bolting it up and I cant seem to align the dowel pins. It's...
So it should be a direct swap. I've just read so many stories of how people changed their flex-plate and then couldn't start their jeep due to timing issues.
Does anyone have a picture of a flexplate out of their 1996 xj? I need to see what the timing windows look like. I'm going to replace mine this saturday but I have to make sure I have my jeep running by Monday so I need to make this go as smooth as possible. I ordered one for a 1996 from parts...
The return line is the rubber one. follow it to the back of your transmission to make sure. I'm going to add enough for the cooler for now and flush everything including my torque converter when I replace my flex plate in the near future. I just wanted some insight on whether its a good idea to...
So this would leave a mix of new fluid and some old correct? Ive heard that the new fluid may screw up the syncros in the trans. Anyone wanna shed some light on this?
Hey guys, I'm installing a transmission cooler on my Cherokee with 170k on the clock. This sucks but I bought the jeep with 165k on it and I'm pretty sure the trans fluid has never been changed so I'm not about to change it.
My question is will it hurt to add new fluid for the cooler? Should I...
