What all is involved and will I need a special removal tool to pull it? Remove fan, radiator?
I swapped another 4.0 into my '96 sport at half a million miles and 1000 miles later I'm now getting a constant squeal from the fan belt. Stopped at an repair shop and upon closer look the harmonic...
It feels like something is not right inside the case as I can move the shifter tab freely with the fingers on my hand. It's be ages(6-8yrs), since I was last into the case, replacing the chain. I was hoping Dutch would work on this, but he is busy. I've got a shop in Longmont lined up to work...
I am able to move the xfr case position tab freely by hand.
We did put Boostwork's shift kit on. The linkage didn't line up at first. Contacted Bryson who said a tab was needed to extend the shifter flat rod to line up the linkage. This tab is needed for the AX15 5 speed equipped xj. The AW4...
After getting the $400 4.0 installed and headed to the trail last weekend I find the transfer case not shifting out of 4H. Do you know anyone who would pull and refurbish the tfr case? Dutch v Dub is busy and I won't have a place to work on it for 4 more months. I can and will be another hand...

XJ went back to the shop, hopefully next weekend will be a go...
Turned over 500,000 miles on the odometer this week and I've spent a bit reconditioning the xj for several more years enjoyment. Just put new 31.5" AT-KO's on, new longarms and some hefty motor mounts. I am having issues with the fuse box under the hood, causing my radio to not work.
I'll be in the Camp Dick area probably about 11am.
Half million miles on the odometer, this will be the first run on the rebuild. New longarms, new to me used 4.0L motor courtesy NAXJA (thanks Yellaheep), new 31.5" BFG-AT KO's, new 7 point motor mounts and new plugs and wires. Runs great so far.
It could be a number of things... Relays under the hood, ignition switch, bad grounds, bad fuse, these need located then wiggled and checked in the cold enviroment. You need to find a scematic of the starting system then trace or follow B+ from the battery throught the starting circuit. First...
Sorry it took so long...
