The 8.25 was updated sometime in '96 from 27 to 29 splines.

Rock-Trac The NVG 241 J is the 4:1 t-case that comes in the Rubicon. Also known as the "Rock-Trac" or NVG 241 OR.

It's a direct swap. Some people say need to grind a little, but mine fit perfectly. I'm just having some problems adjusting the linkage. Heard from another XJer that linkage needs to be shortened 3" but not sure where.

Could anyone who has done this conversion tell me if there were any shifter linkage issues and how they were corrected? Thanks.

The 241 J is much stronger The 241 J from the Rubicon is way beefier than the standard 231. The 4:1 gears in the 241 J are also stronger than the 4:1 conversion.

Anybody use them? Are they any good, or just a waste of money? I'm looking at the protection factor also.

Thinking of upgrading an HP 30. Anyone running Superior's Super 30 kit with the new ARB? It's been out for awhile, but I haven't seen any write ups on it. I've talked to a few distributors and they say it looks pretty awesome.

I got a Random Technology cat for my '96. Hi-flo, well made, fitting for O2 sensor. Picked it up from Quadratec.

In reply to Fred To make a long story short, I grenaded my 231 and bent my front driveshaft. I replaced the 231 with the 241 J & ran w/o a front driveshaft for a while. Drove fine. Got an awesome driveshaft from Tom Woods, but when I put it on, I started having problems shifting t-case. No prob...

Anyone out there running the new Rock-Trac? Were there any issues with the shift linkage? I'm having shifting problems.
