The strap spreads the load out the lenght of the pin just like the shackle setup.
But I will add that the strap in the reciever does stand more of a chance of being damaged.

I had the same mess. Both weld nuts in my frame let loose. I ended up turning four 1/2 fine thread nuts on a lathe down to 5/8 o.d., drilling my frame and welding in the turned down nut. What a pain but now my crossmember is held in with four 1/2 inch bolts.

I just finished buttoning up everything after a heater core and A/C evaporator change. Now here's the problem, no guage cluster lights, no climate control backlights, radio and odometer read out do not dim with switch. I looked at all the fuses and tried a new headlight switch. Nothing helped...
I wouldn't deal with XJ Armor again if they were the last fabricator on Earth. I ordered some parts from them, was told that they were headed to powder coat and would be shipped in a week. A couple of weeks when by, I was then told they just didn't have time right then and it could "be awhile"...
Had the same kind of day. Tried to put in a new carrier in my rear end. Broke off two bolts in the ring gear before I figured out they are left hand thread. The big "L" on the head of the bolt escaped me.
