While doing my bearings I foolishly spun the carrier with the slide pin out and the spider gears fell out with 2 shims.... I got in a rush and didn’t do my homework. Is there any way to get the gears back in or know where the shims go? I assume one on top one on bottom ?It’s a 95 27 spline 8.25...

1996 8.25. Went to change the axle and had to tap the pin out with a screwdriver and hammer. It’s extremely tight. When trying to put it back in there is no way to do it without hammering in it. K, swap is on hold. One will most definitely need dome lights and brackets for the swap. My dome lights were way too small for the holes.

So, do you need new dome lights to do the headliner swap or can you use the old lights?

Woops, here is the picture of the plug from the new headliner. Also, does anyone know if my dome lights will fit the headliner?

Not sure how other people have done this, but I am trying to add the built in rear speaker headliner to my jeep. Did some prepping for it today and found that my 97 had a different wiring harness than the 2001 that I pulled it out of. WHat have others done in this situation? Here are some picks...

thanks, yeah ive been running FL1A's and Walmart supertech 10w30 full synthetic for over a decade now...best filter/oil for me. And yes the correct adapter for the filter was great, but did not work, not even the old punching a hole threw it did. I had to chisel the thing off...it was not fun

Did any of the 97-2001 xj's come with a factory cd player that one could just plug and play with? Mine only has Am/Fm

well...not sure if it is ill advised or not (so no one take my advice please) but I used this stuff called JB water weld and plugged the holes. Seems to be holding up fine so far. We will see how it goes.

What years of fuel tanks fit a 1997? Im trying to get a used one, but all wreckers are only showing that 1997 was a different than 1996 or 1998?
