Stereo harness the same as the TJ's?

The volume knob on my Jensen "heavy duty" headunit is broken so I'm replacing it with a Sony CDX-GT420IP. I'm selling my 1999 XJ to my landlord in about a week so I can move back to the mainland, so I don't have time to deal with splicing wires. Can I just buy the 96-02 TJ->Sony harness from...

Anyone have any experience with this?

I have an upgraded harness and 65/60W Hella bulbs (I think) in Hella E-code housings. Maybe they were 70/65W. Works great. You shouldn't use HID bulbs in a regular housing. The shape and position of the light source is different so the reflector can't direct the beam properly, leading to glare.

    Tron Legacy

I don't get the 3D thing. All it did was give me a headache. Yes I get it, it's "3D" like Viewmaster, but it doesn't improve the movie experience.

    242 vs 249

Can you swap in the clutch pack 247 from the WJ or does it have fiddly electronics? I liked that case a lot... no need to shift to 4WD get 4 wheel traction, no need to shift to 2WD to prevent binding. There's no need for locked 4 hi when it effectively works just as well.

Relocating the battery to the cargo area

Man this is a lot of work. Why bother?

Oil Filter Adapter O-ring job - check!

But how is a torx easier for a robot to screw in than a hex or square?

    factory aux coling fan

Those 10" fans you can get at auto parts stores don't move a lot of air. I installed one in front of my radiator to supplement the stock electric, but it doesn't do much.

Oil Filter Adapter O-ring job - check!

How is it any better for assembly than a hex head? Or how about a square hole like the tcase? Then you could just use a ratchet.

    Need help identifying oil leak

OK, I've confirmed that it's the oil filter adapter that's leaking. Not looking forward to getting that damn torx bolt out. Is the elbow adapter really necessary? Why not screw the filter into the engine block directly?

Oil Filter Adapter O-ring job - check!

Pain in the butt... why did Chrysler switch from the perfectly fine hex head to a torx?

Does this mean I have LSD?

TruTrac is a Torsen diff, which is exactly what you want in the snow I believe. The way it works, the amount of resistance that the slipping wheel sees is multiplied, and the result is the amount of torque sent to the wheel that has grip. With an open diff, the slipping wheel's resistance is...

    Windshield Wiper blades

I have Silblades and they suck. Even when they were brand spanking new they screeched. I can't stand using them unless it's pouring rain, because the screeching makes my skin crawl. Don't buy into the hype. I like Bosch and Valeo.

    oil pressure gauge

I got the connector off. The red clip does slide but you need to get a really small screwdriver in there to pry it out.

I'm sick of the black on grey...

I'm guessing the vBulletin just takes 2 hex codes and blends them together though, right? Another forum I use switched from Fusetalk to vBulletin (says version 3.8.6) and so far so good
