Now THIS is what I am talking about. Not some cheapo autozone puller or something...
Damn, that one is spendy but I guess it will be used often enough on various things to justify the cost...
I had the shafts out recently and they came right out.
Just curious about the actual puller for the bearing that is left in the tube after they come out and after I get the seal out.
They need it now and then. Depends soley on you, but probably not needed every 20K.
No special lube needed, but run good the stuff anyway.
They can be, depending on your driving style. But only in 4wd.
If you drive like you are locked in front (no hard gas pedal when going around turns...
Very common. It's already in "the books".
There is even a tsb for it I think.
I have "fixed" mine by cleaning and very slightly tweaking the connector pins. It lasted about 10K miles then started again. Now I just push on the plastic face over the guages a little on each side and it always...
OK, 1998 XJ, currently running 1" via spacers and JKS shackles. I plan on bumping up to 2" in the near future (next few months) by means of a stock main leaf aal (and others if needed) and a bigger spacer in front.
I am replacing the control arms anyway soon due to bushing wear and a...
Measure what you have....if it's only 3/4", then try 1" either using washers or different spacers entirely (better).
If that's not enough you could go a little more but I would think you will run into t-case shifter linkage issues that you may have to correct either with brackets or at the...
Specs: 1998 4.0 AW4, 1" lift via JKS shackles/spacers, 30" tires, 85K miles.
I get a full body wobble from about 60mph on up. Sometimes it goes away for a little bit (10 miles at a time), but it always comes back and is present 90% of the time.
This is not a steering wheel shake. I can see...
I run the JKS 1" shackle (good for .9" lift) and a 3/4" spacer up front with some small 31X10.5's (measure out to 30" tall exactly) on my DD with no rubbing issues whatsoever on the street.
And my gas mileage is actually better since I drive 90% highway.
My measurements stock were closer to...
If you did not extend bumpstops, keep the same shocks unless they are shot. Using shocks as bumpstops by mistake is not the best.
Ideal would be a slight extension of both bumpstops and shocks but still depends on tires, trimming, etc.
That said, you really have to experiment with what works...
I will only use MOPAR.
The steering pumps are so prone to failure as it is, you might as well only use exactly what they say to use.
No matter what you do, make sure you purge all the old gunk out of the system while you are it (search if you dont know how).
Get at least 2 regular sized...
Mine is all screwy too. Feels like the drums are egged shaped but they are brand new...
What's the supposed axle shaft issue? I have been wondering if my shafts are bent....which is uunlikey as this XJ has never seen hard use of any sort.
