    knocking sound when turning steering wheel?

    Track bar loose. Check the connection of it on the drivers side. Turn the steering wheel back and forth a bit should make them "POP"

    I just had the exact same problem. Mine was the track bar connection on the drivers side. I tightened the nut and it was fixed.

    Check your steering stablizer (sideways shock).

    I was told it also keeps the auto tranny from shifing into overdrive (?) Never really checked to see if it does or not.

    My 2 wheel drive 88 has this same noise. Mine is the plastic sleeve on the bolts that hold the front calipers on are worn away. When I change the direction of travel the caliper rocks forward or back ever slighty and makes the clunk, applying the backs when I change the direction makes it more...
