Leaking from rad. overflow port after rebuild

In the process of troubleshooting some other problems after rebuilding the 4.0 in a '93 I noticed that when the engine was cold coolant was leaking from the overflow port (line to bottle was off at the time). After the engine warmed up it pretty much stopped. Let everything cool enough to...

Ign. timing (was dist. indexing, too much cam)

What should the base ign. timing be at idle? In my search for some of the odd symptoms I'm getting after the rebuild I checked the timing this morning at idle and it is sitting at about 12*. The odd thing is at idle it seems to bounce around quite a bit. It will jump up to 16 -18 and back...

dist. cap & rotor, interesting info(possible poor milage culprit)

Was going through the motions this past weekend of indexing the distributor after rebuilding the engine and adding a Crane cam, Borla header etc.. I cut a window in the old cap to aid in the indexing and when I installed it I was able to see that the rotor seemed to be sitting below the...

Getting ready to add RE control arm drop brackets to a '93, and was wondering what the relationship is between pinion angle and castor. I know there is a formula that can be used to figure caster if the pinion angle is known but don't remember what the formula is. Also looking for ideas on a...

AW-4 rebuild "special" tools/ torque converters

Are there any tranny specific tools need for rebuilding the AW-4? As I said earlier I work in the aviation industry so any tools I dont have I should have acess to if they aren't automotive tranny specific. When rebuilding the AW-4 should the torque converter also be replaced? Would hate to...

    AW-4 "tune-up"/ maintenance

Will be pulling the engine out of the '93 in the next couple weeks to rebuild/stroke and was wondering what, if anything, I should do to the tranny while it's out and on the floor? The xj has 200k miles, is lifted 7+", locked front and rear, add on tranny cooler, first gear lock out mod, etc...
