    Bad PCM Multiple times??? 99Xj

Classic CPS fault symptoms, but it may be more than a simple failed CPS. Suspect wire harness defects shorting out the 5 volts CCD Bus. Any of the OBD sensor wires could be the root cause. Don't forget to check the O2 sensors and wires. Horn circuit shorting to the TPS circuit is a...

2001 jeep Cherokee w bds lift

Depending on the tire, and the offset, they may rub. 3 inches of lift and 30's is perfect. I had to lightly trim the front bumper ends and flares with 31's and 3 inch lift. Both BFG A/T and generic mud terrains rubbed slightly at 31x10.5 and 4.5 of back spacing. Don't forget to add to...

    Anybody Replace Rear Quarter?

I forgot to mention that when I replaced the rusty floor pans I used Unibody adhesive instead of welding them. The adhesive is actually strogner than welding and it seals the seam completely. A spot weld cutting attachment for your drill will save time and effort. I would also buy a panel...

    Idle issues when hot

Always suspect the most recent modifications or repairs. K suspension injectors can be hit or miss in the quality.

    Xj wont start

I bought a wrecked XJ that sat under a tree with no gas cap for +2 years. It started right up and drove onto the trailer. Test the CPS. and fuel pressure. For 1996+ Jeeps, the OBD-II engine computer (ECU/PCM) re-boots, and the idle settings are deleted, when you: (1) let the battery run...

    Anybody Replace Rear Quarter?

I bought a 1998 that was crashed. I replaced the right front inner fender support, fender, hood, grille, and also discovered that Bubba had fixed the left rear previously with a few tack welds and lots of Bondo. $600 for the XJ and $800 for junkyard repair parts and a Maaco paint job. It was...

1999 XJ is getting the best of me. No Start.

Got bight blue and snapping spark, or a weak yellowish spark? Cranking and not starting usually is a faulty Crankshaft Position Sensor. If you are swapping them around test all of them. I have had corroded wire plug pins, bent/pushed back wire plug pins, failed wire splices near the...

    Idle and TPS issues

A TPS is either good or bad. If there was a short circuit involving the TPS it would most likely be the clockspring at fault, and you would have other symptoms, and Check Engine Light codes. The clockspring and the TPS share a ground. Have you continuity checked and Ohms checked the...

    Idle and TPS issues

The TPS should range from about .25 volts at minimum throttle opening (idle), to 4.5 volts at WOT wide open throttle. Unplug the horn relay and/or fuse and then re-test. 2.39 volts is out of tolerance and presumably a short circuited or defective TPS. Crown Automotive, OmixAda, and...

How to clean corrosion off from rims?

Typically the coating is stripped, the alum is polished, and the clear coat is reapplied.

    Window track alignment

Looked inside yet? The glass guide sits in a metal frame inside the door shell. The 2 torx bolts allow for slight adjustment. The front guide frame is welded in place but could be moved slightly with a pry-bar. .

    UCA/LCA Measurements

The shims may be optional, but I doubt the #7 clevis brackets are. I don't see how you are going to keep the control arm bolt from sliding all around in the slot without the clevis or something similar. The chart is a starting point, adjust as necessary. When I installed control arm drop...

2000 XJ 4wd AUTO - Stumbles when accelerating but ok when TCM removed and shifting manually

Did you test the O2 sensors? The O2 sensors are NTK, and NOT Bosch or no-name generic? TPS failure may have one or more of these Physical Symptoms: 1) The engine loses power and is stalling. 2) The engine will idle, but may die as soon as you press the gas pedal. When driving, it seems as...

No start and shorted/melted connections inside overhead console.

I would inspect the back side of the fuse-box for corrosion and damage possibly causing short circuits, open circuits, or sticky relays. All the fuses and relays should be removed and inspected for corrosion. Take pictures or make a diagram of locations before removing fuse and relays.
