torque conv. not locking up. gages read zero.

replacing the instrument cluster plug is worth a try, but that will not cause the trans issues. there may be a bus comunication error between the transmssion contol module and PCM, or from some of the trans sensors. Ths could be anything from a cut, chafed, or pinched wire to a corroded...

    Odometer HELP !!

the odo should be digital, and therefore the mileage is stored in 2 modules. one stores the actual mileage, the second is the PCM. the PCM does not store actual mileage, but approx a 100 mile "window" that the other module (that stores actual mileage) needs to be within, otherwise it will set...

    E22 recall

just remember that they have to replace the cat unless they can prove what you did caused the failure of the cat. And that is damn near impossible. not saying they wont try to, but chrysler is a pushover when it comes to warranty claimes:shhh: . but um yeah, ...... so um how bout them pats eh?

    E22 recall

actually no, after the reflash is done there is a 12 mo 12k mile "grace period". so if the code for cat failure comes up within that timeframe, we replace the cat even if it passed the inspection at the time of the flash. basically 90% of the people who get this recall done are going to end up...

    fuel pump problems?

the hammer is my favorite diagnostic tool. as for factory parts, they dont offer a repair kit for XJ's, only a new pump module.

    Fuel Pressure Problem

I'd say that the most likely culprit is the AIS motor. that is what controls the amount of airflow at idle. it's mounted on the back side of the throttle body toward the passenger side. best way to swap it out is to remove the whole t-body fromt th intake, much easier to get to that way and...

im not trying to be an ass or anything, just trying to give the correct way to convert a system over so that they will have no problems. also I may not have 10 years experience, but I do have 5 and all of that with Chrysler and Jeep, so dont act like I dont know what I'm talking about.

    E22 recall

I have done a number of these recalls and other than people returning with a code for a bad cat, I have not really seen any problems with the flash. also them trying to charge you for diagnostic time is completely fair in my opnion. at my dealer we charge the diag time up front for any...

    Front Axle half shafts

the cv joint style should fit, but is not as strong as the u-joint style. also with the cv you will have the problem of the boots tearing. imo just keep the stock u-joint style shafts.

    Catalytic converter ?????????????

the reason is due to a recall for reprograming the pcm. aparently the old programming will not set a check engine light even if the cat is bad. so we reprogram the pcm and inspect the cat and if it is bad we replace it for free, or if the code for a bad cat gets tripped in the nxt 12mo or 12k...

1998 XJ died, no blown fuses that I can see...

if you have repaired the battery cables, make sure that they are tight in the new battery terminals. this happened to me in my 98 and thats all it was. best thing to do is to run some solder in there so it wont come loose again.

    A/C Compressor

even after the system is evacuated there will still be several ounces of oil left in the system, mostly in the evaporator and condensor. there are flush kits that are specfically made to remove all the old oil. while not really necessary to remove the old oil, it will make the system more...
