After spending almost 2 months trying to get my lights wired up with those converters I gave up, I could get one light wired up fine and the second I tried to wire in the second light the converter blew...so I ditched the backup lights and replaced them with LED lights from American Superlite, I...
I went and bought a circuit tester, tested all the fuses one last time just to be sure, they all checked out, so then I started from my taillight and tested the circuits, it appears that some how both of my converter boxes are bad even though they are almost brand new, I guess I need to get...

Worked on it some more, diconnected the battery to clear the engine codes, haven't seen them back on since.
I just went and checked the wiring again and it all seems to be correct, I tried both the driver and passenger side turn signals they worked fine(front and back), pressed the brake...
my Check Engine light is still on, it's throwing codes P0132 and P0443. When I press in the brake my 3rd brake light works but the others don't light up. If I turn on the parking lights or head lights, the tail lights don't come on but the brake lights do and they stay on, pressing the brake...
I changed fuse #10 and my reverse lights work now and I think that was the cause of the check engine code, but still no brake lights, any ideas? thanx, Jamie
I had a short in my reverse lights(which i heard pop before everything quit working) that I noticed when I was changing my lights, the 3rd brake light works fine, but the rear turn signals(front signals work), the brake lights and the reverse lights won't work, when I turn on the head lights...

two reasons, it wasn't offered in LED and when I ordered them I didn't have the money to spend on LEDs, I'm planning on going LEDs in the next few paychecks though
I've been on the waiting list for these things forever and it was well worth the wait. I'll have a writeup done in the next few days, and I'll take some night pics of the reverse light, parking light, and brake light later on tonight.
well like I said there was no change in the cross member, it was just an added piece of 1x1 on both sides, some dealers especially in the north where they use salt like crazy welded the piece of 1x1 to the crossmember and I just learned that it was a TSB for 2000 and 2001, it didn't come factory...
There is actually truth to this, it was 2000 and 2001 XJs with the Up Country suspension, BUT in 2000 it was a service bulletin and all they did was add a 1" piece of square tubing they didn't even paint it and it was thin metal so I took it off mine and got a SYE, but on my cousins 2001 the...
