I have a 86 xj I am going to chop. I have seen other four doors chopped behind the back set of doors. I want to chop either behind my front set or take the top half off of the back doors.I need a little more bed space for my usage. Thoughts ,ideas ??

I have used a metal cut off blade on a circular saw. It worked pretty well.:eek:

No offense taken , It advances for a while then it will retard and slow down.

When the hose is pulled off it is plugged.

The manual says 10btdc and vacuum disconnected. I cannot even get it to 10btdc .

My 86 XJ with 2.8 has interesting problem with the timing. First of all when setting the timing , when I advance past 8 BTDC the engine will slow down and at a point it will stumble. Next when changing my vacuum line on the vacuum advance to a port with constant vacuum the engine will slow down...

I am going through my steering gear. On the drivers side of the center link ,where it mounts to the frame how much up and down play should it have ?:eek: :angel: NAXJA

Not knowing all the details of your states inspections , It is hard to say. However if the Weber is adjusted properly it should pass the sniffer. I passed in Colorado with my 86XJ and a holley carb. :) ;) :eek:

I am trying to determine why gears I have in my 86 xj , it has a 2.8 v6 with 5 speed. I have pulled the tag off the rear diff and the numbers are as follows ; 1 605293-3D 3003695 ;) :)

MY 86 xj has a mysterious electrical problem. I can go down the road with the heater fan working suddenly it will quit. My turn signals will not work either. A few minutes later they will work.:mad:

What is the procedure of putting in the shims and where do they go. I am in the process of doing a 3 inch myself.:) :eek: NAXJA

It is carbureted. It has the factory junk on there now.:) :angel:

My 86 XJ with a 2.8 , recently purchased as a project . Has very little power. When climbing hills , I barely make it up. The clutch is not slipping. I have changed the cap ,rotor, cleaned the carb. Changed PCV and air filter. Any ideas ?????:) :) :rolleyes: :angel: NAXJA
