I didn’t. It was already inoperable at that point. I’ll verify 12v is getting to the pump then pull then fuel pump and go from there. What’s the go to fuel pump these days? I keep reading it’s a mixed bag

I finally got it! I had to build a wooden stand to keep the transmission upright. A little love with a block of wood and a hammer did the trick. Thanks for taking the time RCP Phx.
Thanks to everyone in advance! The bearing is new and directional. It only has one groove for the snap ring, so I know the direction is correct. I'm hoping once I shift through the gears it will "relax" into place. If not I guess I'll be taking it back apart.
