'91 XJ, 6.5" RE LA, 8.8 NE Ohio

About three years ago the bendix brake system went out on my XJ, at the same time the power windows stopped working (weak motor and bad switches), and the brake lights quit. I was poor at the time so I parked it in the garage and promised to fix it. I eventually got the bendix crap out, and put...

Cross country drive comming up, suggestions needed

If you are already in the military, get USAA insurance. They are cheaper then most insurance places and way better then AAA for your side of the road needs.

    31's = 15mpg?

I'm not sure what you guys are doing, but I get 20mpg on the freeway, through the mountains. GPS said we went 200 miles from gas station to gas station and the fuel started pouring out at 10 gallons. So I'm pretty sure it isn't a math/speedo problem. I run a 6" LA lift with 32" BFG AT's 1991...

    Broken Bolt

Also, don't hit hardened steel with a hammer unless you like digging metal pieces out of your skin. Ask me how I know.

    Broken Bolt

DON'T USE AN EASY OUT!!!!!! All you will end up with is a broken piece of hardened steel in your yolk. Good luck drilling that out. Left handed bit and a ton of heat, helicoil, or a new yolk are your best bets. X2

    Welder: good or no?

My point was that you can't get a 400A welder for that cheap. At least not one that claims to weld from 22ga to 3/4 inch. But I do appreciate your lesson as I know almost nothing about welding. I can make metal stick together, that's about the extent of my knowledge lol.

    Welder: good or no?

Yes http://www.readywelder.com/ I've never seen one other then videos on you-tube, but I have never read a bad review. They go for about $540 on ebay new. It seems like a cheap way to get a high end welder. Would love to hear from a pro welder that has used one though. I guess the biggest...

    Welder: good or no?

What about a ready welder? 100% duty cycle and can weld 1/2 inch stainless or aluminum. And they are pretty cheap. Even for in the shop work it seems like a good deal, and you can weld on the trail too.

    Aftermarket knuckles

So Ive got this JCR 1-ton set up taking up room in my garage and I'm wondering if there is a better solution then reaming out the knuckle to fit 1-ton TRE's. There isn't much beef there and I think it might make the knuckle the weak link.

what do i need to fit 35s

I think he was just saying that you should get a little experience before you jump to 35s. But I could be wrong. Not to beat a rotten corpse of a horse, but ditch the d35. One guy from "thesouth" saying that the d35 is good only means that they wheel in super low traction conditions, not that...

    Non-slip paint for sliders?

Don't do it! I put some stick-on "skateboard" stuff on mine so the kids could get in without slipping and it will just tear up your legs. I guess if you really wanted to do it, just sprinkle a handful of sand on them as you spray. Also I would suggest powder-coating them rather then paint. I...

95 XJ - Way to add comfort/power button for trans?

I have it on my '91 so it wasnt just for the renix. Just an fyi. I never put in the 'power' mode and I get about 20mpg on the highway.

Shoe creek run, 3 sept 2006

The closest place to Richmond would be crozet, then shoe creek/big levels. If you go to crozet, you better bring armor. BTW Nick, I love that steering. I have to drill out the knuckels for mine, nice find!
