Mine does the same thing.
I've had the fluid in both differentials replaced. I'll probably get the T-case done soon, but for some reason, I'm not worried about the sound at all.
Good info in this post.
I'm going to head to the dealer tomorrow afterwork and pick up plugs and wires.
Anyone know where I can find the fire order? Wire diagram?
Thanks,
Dave
Just an FYI - when I had this problem on my old YJ a few years ago (reverse problem though, light was stuck on after switching back to 2wd). The mom & pop mechanic we go to charged me something like 30 or 40 dollars to replace the plunger.
I'm having the same problem. My 4wd lights aren't working either (I have the regular command track or what ever it's called). I'm 100% sure my actual 4wd is working though. I have a feeling it's the plunger indicator light for mine, I'm just going to see if it bothers me when I need to use...
I agree. The YJs will melt your feet if you're not careful.
My 98 XJ pumps out more than enough heat. Sounds like you've got a plug in your core. What temp is your guage reading at normal cruising speed after more than 10 minutes of driving?
Where have you guys mounted your cell anywhere in your 97-01 XJ? Right now I keep mine cliped to the passenger side visor but I'd like to bring it down to eye level.
If you have a mount currently set up, please post pics.
Thanks,
Dave
