    Cracked radiator. Suggestions for replacement?

When my oem radiator end tank cracked after 219K miles, I needed a new radiator yesterday, so I went with the readily available Spectra CU1193. Amazon has it at the moment for $74 with Prime shipping. Year and a half later it's still going. I was worried about it, but I was impressed with the...

Windshield Wiper Fix...and new pics of the jeep

I'm curious to see if you found a solution. I have the same problem now. Years ago, I used this very thread to replace my bushings on my 97 xj and that solved the problem. The problem came back a few months ago and I immediately assumed the bushings were the culprit. The old ones still...

    Mopar Radiator PN Differences

Hey everyone, Thank you for the responses. So, Anak, if I'm reading your thread correctly, you went with the standard duty? I contacted a popular online Mopar dealer regarding the two part numbers and received a somewhat cryptic response today: "You do have "Max Cooling," however, this...

    Mopar Radiator PN Differences

97 XJ SE, 4.0, AX15, with AC I need a new radiator, and after searching discussions, thinking of going Mopar. I am finding two different part numbers: 5191929AA 4.0 LITER, MANUAL TRANS, HD 52079693AE 4.0 LITER, MANUAL TRANS, STANDARD DUTY The HD is cheaper. Does anyone know the difference...

    Grease Slip Yoke Splines?

Thanks for the info! 2wd XJs must be really, really rare compared to 4wd. I searched for an answer longer than I care to say before finally posting here. So, to future searchers, the slip yoke on this setup is lubed by the transmission. Anyway, she's all buttoned back up with new u-joints...

    Grease Slip Yoke Splines?

This is also true for the slip yoke on a 97 2wd with an ax15? Mine is definitely going into the transmission. Thanks!

    Grease Slip Yoke Splines?

97 xj, 2wd, ax15, 8.25 axle I cannot get a definitive answer on this by searching. Given my specs above, do I need to grease the splines on my slip yoke, or are they taken care of by tranny fluid? Thanks!

    Timing cover oil seal location

I think I misread your original post, where you are referring to the bevel at the front, rather than the lip at the rear. Yep, I was worried about that bevel as well. I installed it as far as I could with my block of wood. I did use a thin layer of RTV on the outside of the seal as suggested...

    Timing cover oil seal location

I'm curious about that, too. I wound up using a block of 2x4 and realized that although my seal is flush with the front of the cover, it is not against the lip at the back. I went ahead and put everything back together and after nearly 300 miles, everything looks great. (knock on wood)

    Cloyes C3041

Well that's good to know! As a rule, I do not muscle any parts unless I know what I'm doing.

    Cloyes C3041

Thank you for the replies. I did put my original set back on and am returning the Cloyes. I was betting that Cloyes manufactures the OEM set and I'd get it cheaper aftermarket. "When compressed, roll pins roll up, becoming sightly smaller in diameter, so it will fit, just very tightly." I...

    Cloyes C3041

97 XJ 4.0 I have been debating replacing my timing set since the timing cover is already off and I'm just over 200K miles, but within the 1/2" deflection spec. So I bought the Cloyes C3041. Has anyone used this successfully? It doesn't look as beefy as the original set, especially the chain...

    Timing Cover/Discrepancy in FSM

UPDATE: Timing Cover/Discrepancy in FSM Just thought I'd update this for future searchers. After all of my struggling to get that front crank seal out using a screwdriver, I gave in and bought a seal puller. I got a Lisle with a pivoting head. Took all of a split second to pop the seal out...

    Timing Cover/Discrepancy in FSM

Thanks winterbeater, especially for the tip about rtv only on the part side.

    Timing Cover/Discrepancy in FSM

Thanks for the reply 8Mud. Just to clarify, are you saying you wouldn't use Indian Head on the timing cover paper gasket, and instead use a thin layer of rtv on both sides of the paper gasket? I have about decided I am going to use a small bead of black rtv on both sides of the protruding oil...
