u need a bigger hammer and some pb blaster i used a 2 pound sledge hammer to get mine off. mine was stuck the same as yours.

lol i guess i should have read the whole thread. 22 years old definitely equals more than a hammer. a puller will pop it right off.

pb blaster and a 1 pound sledge hammer will do the trick. thats how i removed it from my 01 xj.

im running a RE 2 inch BB and it's definitely closer to three inches. the ride is a bit stiff but nothing horrible. 2001 XJ

i had it happen to my 2001 XJ, turned out to be a lifter. they are not hard to replace.
