OUTSTANDING! Much better than my Haynes wiring diagram. Muchas Gracias! ScottB

    Looking for chassis grounding map

I had a brake light/turn signal problem that I believe was because of a bad ground to chassis. It went away, apparently fixed by the grounding faeries. Does anyone have a map, or list, of the chassis grounds in the XJ? Maybe I can fix the problem more reliably. ScottB '01 XJ Limited

Different take on the brake light / turn signal problem

Dang! My problem just went away, too! I had the cold weather = no dash lights problem on an old Chevy Celebrity. The problem was corrosion on the wiring harness connector to the meter cluster. I took the meter cluster out and cleaned the contacts to fix. I guess there was enough expansion...

    A/C Questions

It might be the belt slipping. I had squealing after I changed the belt and the volt meter showed low. After the engine warmed up, no more squealing and volts OK. I tightened the belt, and problems went away. Now that the belt is a little stretched, I'll get a little squealing if I turn on...

Different take on the brake light / turn signal problem

Re:brake light / turn signal problem Hey Two Jeeps, Did you ever figure out your problem? I have exactly the same problem; brake activates all 4 rear lamps (not reverse). Additional symptom is right turn signal (or hazards) on with brakes goes dim and stops flashing. That makes me think...

    Jeep 4.0 Volumetric Efficiency

Idle in D, or coast in D. I think of idle with the brake on or under 5 mph. Even rolling at 30 or 40 in D, foot off the gas ign goes to 14. Idle in N = idle in P. Saw some other thread (can't remember where) about 12 being the most geometrically efficient. RPM's are higher with higher speed...

    Jeep 4.0 Volumetric Efficiency

WOT ign=22, and it gets there right NOW! Ran it from about 2000-4500 rpm, across 2nd and 3rd gears. 4-6 mpg idle in N ign=10 coast in D ign=14 More mileage data puts the peak right on 67. ScottB

    MPG Help

Got a question. I've generally been eggshelling when I start from stop (driving like an egg between foot and accelerator). I've got a ScanGauge hooked up showing me generally instantaneous (~2 sec update) mpg. It occurs to me that I've been getting 9-10 mpg for 30 sec until I get to 60 mph or...

Not exactly. First 10 mile stretch at 65 averaged 22.3 mpg, second stretch averaged 24.2, third stretch averaged 20.8. Samples weren't consecutive. and some higher and lower speeds in between. Close enough to random for me. I can post data table if wanted. Today my ignition was 36-37...

    Jeep 4.0 Volumetric Efficiency

Got crazy for me this week and just got to this. Don't know how to post an excel graph visually. Anyway, here's a description. Looks like a lot of factors in fuel mileage. I took my data in 10-mile segments on cruise (2Hi) to average minor variations. I was on I-71 between Cinci and...

Only saw the hits when I was looking for OBD2 gadgets. Didn't track them as it wasn't what I was looking for. I'm sure a google search would find something worth pursuing. ScottB

    Jeep 4.0 Volumetric Efficiency

Going on a trip for the weekend, so I'll collect some data. Got a couple hundred miles of freeway so I'll see what comes up. Won't be best mileage 'cuz the whole family will be packed in, but will get some relative values. I've only been getting 1 data point per day on speed/rpm/mileage, using...
