Had a similar problem before my jeep would start sometimes and run fine. Sometimes it would cut off and not start then start the next day or so. Ended up being ignition control module.
The jeep gods were smiling down on me!!! Looking for old xj's is not top priority on the police list of things to do. it was very high. on my priority list
Called everyone i knew for help and to be on the lookout for it
even posted it on facebook. One of my nephews told me where teenagers...
I'm not sure where to post this but i wanted people in this forum to see it. I've been on this site since 2006. I've found lots of useful info and kept my jeep going for all those years thanks to all who post. Today somebody stole my jeep. All my hardwork gone. i just wanted to say thanks to all...
prep is the key. i've used super glue and had it work so well i pulled a chunk of glass loose when i knocked the mirror back off while taking out the dash
Thanks... I knew someone on here would know. I had noticed they are the same color as my cps wires. I had wondered if a previous owner had jerry rigged something or if i was missing something. Thanks again for the replies. This site has yet to let me down... ..unlike my jeep on occasion.
Have noticed these 2 wires on my 88 xj with 4.0 ever since i've owned it. Can't find them going anywhere farther in the harness where they are cut. One is purple the other is white. Anyone know what they are for? Thanks in advance.
I tried searching and couldn't find anything about this. I just want to know if when the a/c setting is set to max does the blower output increase over norm setting when switch is on high. I know it does in some other vehicles but i can't remember if it does on the xj. Mine doesn't. I think it...
Thanks for the answers. That's kind of what i thought. Since it's a durable transmission and cheap used.. why rebuild? I have 200,000 miles on mine in an 88 xj. I've never had an auto tranny that lasted that long... just wanted to know my options for when i need to replace especially since it's...
First let me say this is a great forum. I usually find whatevery i need by searching.... except this time. Why do i read on here that the aw4 should not be rebuilt. Does it not hold up after being rebuilt? Is the cost to high? I'm just trying to get some info in case mine needs replaced. Thanks...
When you change your fluids also be sure to wash the mud out of the starter. i have had to change mine a couple of times because of muddin'. That was because i didn't wash it out. Since i started hosing everything down when i'm through playing i've had no more starter problems. Mud is the most...
You'll be amazed at how well a stock XJ performs in the mud. ( I was). I have an 88 xj and the first time i went muddin i had my nephew follow me in his S10 Zr2. I had no problems going through the holes with the 225/75/15 tires. He got stuck with his 31's. I have never let him live that down...
That's just my luck! I have a Renix (1988 model):smsoap: It's been a good vehicle since i've owned it though. i bought it last may for 500 bucks from a friend who had nothing but trouble with it. it only needed some TLC. This site has been VERY HELPFUL with everything i've had to do to it.
i bought one last summer from Advance auto parts it came with 2 keys and was about 15 bucks. you will need a steering wheel puller to replace it if you don't have one they sell a cheap one for about 12 dollars. Search this site and you will find how to change it. I did mine this past summer and...
Wish i had known the OEM injectors are crap before i replaced all 6 of mine this summer. Al least when they start leaking again i know what to replace them with now. I paid the same price for the OEM's that the ford's cost.
