Yes I have the 4.0 but my ride does not seem to be the dog that comes with having 3.07's. Other than popping off the diff cover and counting teeth is there any sure fire way to tell .

I have an 1988 XJ 4.0 Rustys 4.5" lift newer AX-15(1993) and I running 33's.My question is how do I tell what gears I have, there is no marking on my front or rear ends(d30 front d35 rear) and going about 60 mph my speedo says 50 mph.

Ok so I have another question , just swap out my old stock tranny (1988 French made) with a 1993 ax-15 .The old tranny had a breather tube right next to the shifter(were it mounts to the tranny)and I can't find one on my new one(ax-15) should I just throw out the tube or what?

Thanx for the tips, I think I am going to try using an air chisel with a pointed bit.Hope that works!By the way I was using a 7\16 " tap and broke off the first threads about 1\8" from the tip.

So on installing my tranny mount I had to drill and tap the spare holes on my frame , all went well till I broke off a tap in the last one. I have tried everything I can think of (tap extractors, hardened drill bits, screw drivers ,hammer and a punch) if any body knows the secret to getting out...

Just wandering if any body has had any luck with the universal O2 sensor for the 4.0 or if I should get the O.E. one (it is about 35$ more).

has any body done\heard of regearing your t-case as an alternative to regearing your front and rear ends?

i didnt want to risk busting the welded nuts so i hacked off the studs and drill and retapped to 7\16" did it about 2 years ago and have had no problems.

I was wondering I have a 231 transfer case and my tranny just went tits up. I picked up what I think is AX-15 out of rolled over 93 XJ(no id code on tranny). Will my 231 bolt up??
