Do not forget the cost of having someone install the gears. The shop you have install your gears may be able to give you a better deal as a package of parts and labor than you can get seperatly. If you are planning on adding a no-slip or limited slip, I would recommend doing it at the same time...
I say 8.25, I have put 4:56 gears in mine with an ARB and Superior shafts, and 35's. No noise, no breakage.
If you have more than 3" of lift I sugest the SYE and drive shaft first, and then gears. I still have the drum brakes, and I don't think I will ever convert to disc.
It has been my understanding that 8 to 14 is best, I am moving mine out to at least .012 in my d30, I am in the process of putting 4:56 in right now

I am having a problem, I have put 2 new axles shafts in the passenger side, and 1 new shaft in the driver side of my dana 30 since I snapped a shaft in Moab the weekend after the Easter Safari. I am going on one to two runs, and the caps are spinning. The factory is not going to warrantee any...
I busted my stock D-30 long shaft in Moab Sat, and I need new shafts, I am not that hard on my stuff normally, just did a stupid thing( and I am not telling what) , who sells the yukon shafts at a good price?

I just installed the RE 6020, cost is about 300, and I love it. It has the long AAL, new coils. I feel it is a great deal. I have not seen any bad posts on RE lifts, other than they cost a little more, butyou get what you pay for.
I am installing my 3.5" RE lift tomorrow night, and I am going with 16's, I am going to be going to 285 75 16 next year, have seen several wheelers with that tire, and it seems to work real well.
