    1988 Renix CA Smog Fail

Try the guaranteed to pass fuel additive. My buddy did that on his renin xj after it failed, and then it passed.

Somewhat urgent info needed: flat tow 2wd XJ?

Towing with my 04 Ram 2500 diesel. A locker in the rear axle will get me to all the hunting spots I frequent any time of the year. 2wd = same lift, same mud terrain tires, same winch, same rear locker, half the purchase price. My atv trailer is about four feet too short and 1,000 lbs capacity...

Somewhat urgent info needed: flat tow 2wd XJ?

I can't actually put the jeep backwards on a tow dolly, could I?

Somewhat urgent info needed: flat tow 2wd XJ?

Hey I posted this in the towing/other section, but really need an answer, even someone could read their owner's manual for me and just tell me what it says. I'm tempted to pickup a 2wd 1995 XJ sport for cheap. This will be my third XJ, and I flat towed the other two and my YJ with a tow bar...

    Flat tow 2wd '95 XJ?

Hey, I'm tempted to pickup a 2wd 1995 XJ sport for cheap. This will be my third XJ, and I flat towed the other two and my YJ with a tow bar, but they were 4wd. Can I flat tow this 2wd XJ? If so, would I leave it in drive instead of park, since there is no transfer case? It will be a hunting rig...

    Water Pump 98xj

I've had good luck with the Napa brand ones (premium, not the basic ones); however, I've seen some bad press on the jeep forums about them. If you really want a good one, the Flowkooler high flow water pumps are extremely well made. My 96 XJ is going on 10 years with one.

rear uneven after full leaf spring install

"Flaw" is BS. Tell them to replace them or return them. How can you drive around with your jeep listing to one side?

    surco safari rack

This was on my old 96. I believe it was a 50x60". I had to use Kargomaster brackets to mount it to the factory rails. This was back in 94, so hopefully Surco has the proper hardware now. Also, the spare is mounted using the Surco tire mounting bracket.

XJ Dana 44 Swap, gone wrong.

I'll be quick as to not bog down this good thread. After being a NAXJA member for 10 years now and my second XJ, I am still amazed at the collaborative and polite culture of this site. I'm on a lot of forums: hunting, fishing, knives, guns, other jeep forums, you name it. NAXJA members almost...

    Jump from 4:10's to 4:56's

I did that swap with 32's on my '96 4.0 with AW4 trans, 4.5" RE lift. I felt like the it dogged more than I wanted it to with the 4.10's. The 4.56's were great, but might have been a little overgeared for some people. It was my DD, and it ran great up to about 70 mph (2800 rpm on flat...

    TruTrac or Aussie

I had a true trac in my 96 XJ and a spartan in my 90 XJ, both in front. The true trac's are great, but they are not lockers, nor will they perform the same. Stick with the Aussie, especially since you are already familiar with the way it performs.

Question about Aussie Lockers D30 with a 242

I run a spartan in the front d30 of my 1990 XJ. It clicks quite a bit on the road on tight turns, even in 2wd (nv242 t-case), but it works flawlessly off road. It's not a DD, so the clicking doesn't bother me nor does it do any harm to the locker or diff. I never use the 4FullTime (AWD) option...

    Shocks

I just put some Rancho 5000's on my XJ. Despite common criticisms that they are stiff, they ride great on and off road. They can be had for $50 a piece online with free shipping and no sales tax. A couple times a year they have a buy 3 get the 4th free promo going. They last a very very...

    Using LSD?

I've had true tracs in the fronts of three jeeps. I like them, but they're not a locker. They are aggressive off road though, and very well mannered on the street. Good in snow and muddy terrain. The dana trac lok is a useless POS. I'd rather have an open diff.
