I asked a similar question yesterday and was told that it's a benefit for paid members only. I don't know of any other forums that work on that basis so I'll be spending more time on other forums.
I thought once you registered (login & password) you were good to go. A quick look at some threads tells me that there are a lot of posters that have not gone red.
The ones I've used are in the 2002-2004 range. I'm pretty sure other years of Tiburons work too though. I've seen them in leather and fabric and in a few colours for the centre sections. Some also have seat heaters but I haven't come across any. I installed kits from Dorman and they work...
Coincidentally mine above was a '95 2 dr. as well. When I was searching for junk yard seats I pretty much limited it to sports cars so the seat back would tilt forward. There were plenty of nice seats from 4 dr. cars but they wouldn't have worked.
NICE JOB! The good thing about having to deal with small rust repairs, dings, etc. is that you did the job in the first place. Intimidation isn't a factor and you know what materials to use.
As for your statement in the opening post ("... having a white XJ is nothing special") I object...
I looked at having a shop reupholster my seats a few years ago. It was not something I wanted to tackle myself. I also consider covers. The cost of reupholstering was higher than I wanted to go. There are some good covers you can put on yourself but a lot comes down to how well you install...
I'd seen the angle iron mounting plate but wasn't aware of differences in the winch design. I agree, it would pretty straight forward to fabricate all of the pieces.
This isn't the bush guard version but I thought you might find this interesting. I'm sure others know more but I understand this was offered as an option and used with a Ramsey 6,000 lb. winch.
