I'm in Loveland if you want to pick it up, call / text me.
I finally found an answer to cooling down my 4.7L stroker. I went through everything and ended up swapping in a replacement fan clutch. The stock XJ units are just not up to the job. I put one from a Grand Cherokee and absolutely dropped the temps 30 degrees.
It is a tight fit. Make sure...
The most common issue like this I have found is the driveshaft, either out of balance or the centering bearing on the dual cardan joint is worn out and dry.
Where did you get that info? I have seen tons of D30s on 4.56's over the last 20+ years on here. I have seen lots of drivers side shafts break, but never a R&P.
I leave work in 24 hours and 15 minutes.........and head out on the road. I am detouring through Monument Valley on the way home via Moab.
I start the new job Monday morning.
I have been working out of state for the last year. I just got a job back in Colorado, so I will be sleeping in my own bed again. Can't wait to have access to my tools and shop again.
We need to have a meet and greet up in NorCo soon.
The Grizzly is patterned after the Detroit Locker. They have some play but you should not be getting a bang changing gears. My Dana44 Detroit I have run for 25 years has a fair amount of play and clunks going from D to R and back or putting it in gear the first time (automatic) and sometimes...
I finished my gig in AZ and will back in CO the middle of the month. My bender can be available or you can come up and we can bend it together. Would be good to meet you.
4.0Ls run low at idle. The factory spec is 10 lbs at idle. Lots of people go to the 5w oils and see very low idle pressures. The engine was designed for at least 10w30. Personally I would run 15w40 Rotella and call it good. I built 4.7L stroker and it was low from the start. I am running...
I made custom .75" and 1.0" dies for the HF pipe bender. I had no problem making nice bends. IIRC the radius was about 4". If you look back through the old posts you may find some pix of my roof rack and dies. I would be more than happy to loan you the bender and dies, but I won't be back...
Pretty much the only things that will kill bushings are:
1) Maxing out the shock travel (bump stops and limit straps?)
2) Heat
3) Mis-alignment / binding (visual)
4) Chemicals
