Nope it was fully engaging the splines of the locker the 88 kit comes with longer 4130 shafts to account for the added length for the bearings and retainer that are added. There wasn't less than an inch engaged there was less than 1/2 an inch engaged. That is all that is splined in the side...
I thought the same thing when I diecied to buy them I thought they would keep my shafts alive by slipping before breaking also I had very good luck with the factory ford 8.8 limited slip. And the rear worked good it works great for Moab with the high traction surfaces. But 37" tires are way too...
it was working fine in the rear axle, it slips if it gets bound up to bad but now that I know it only engages 1/2 an inch of splines I don't trust it. Make sure to pass this on they won't do anything about it so I want to stick it to them.

I cant say enough good things about iron rock. I have their double sheer track bar kit, and steering system. When I was out in moab I broke part of the steering system and they overnighted a new part fast and cheep. they are a good bunch of guys.
I have the iron rock track bar it did hit my diff cover when I had 3inches in the front but now I have 6 inches in the front it doesn't even come close, if you look at a stock track bar it has a bow in it to clear the diff. And yes the track bar is put in the correct way. Here is what mine...
Yea I put a long arm kit on the front and just guessed on the caster, it was very darty on the road, I have fixed it now.
And I am pretty sure there has to be a fractional toe in to help in return to center steering.
