I got this trans off CL and I was wondering if this is the oem type of pan sealant they used. Maybe never had the pan off. The fluid was dark but didnt smell bad.
The seller said it was a higher mileage trans but was working good when removed. My original trans has 620,000 miles on it so I got...
Dang, that's cool. I need the lower part of the speedo cable. The outer sheathing failed at the bend by the manifold. So I have red plastic tubing from a HF hand pump as a splice for the outer part of cable. Works pretty good as it fits tight over existing cable.
Renix era xj's are few and far...
I got a used tranny and while checking it out, when I pulled the conv. out and being full of fluid I shook it back and forth.
That's when I heard the clunking noise. Just wondering if thats normal, the clutches moving around or something.
Also the fluid that came out was pretty dark but didnt...
Sweet looking case. I just took mine apart and the front output gear has movement on the shaft against the c-clip. The roller bearing was able to be removed by hand after the snap ring was removed. So it also moves in and out when buttoned up.
The needle caged bearing in the case has a loose...
To check fuel pump circuit. jumper the DLC 1, the small one and its the pin closest to the driver and firewall if you will. And the pin directly forward next to the 1st pin. Clear as mud I know.
What do I replace to eliminate the play? That blind bearing in the case that the shaft butts into. or the output shaft roller bearing? Does the torque of the yoke nut preload that shaft same as the front wheel bearing axle shaft nut loads the hub?
Dang that's pretty good pulling that trans out so many times.
So you were able to get a new pump?
My trans is showing signs of needing a pump I think.
It makes a whirring noise in drive and reverse but not in park or neutral or weirdly when the TCC is engaged. I don't know what it is. Shifts...
Sometime ago I replaced my ball joints. Now as i trace down a wonky steering I am seeing the bottom ball joint nut turning when I turn the steering wheel.
Is this correct or is the joint bad and the big bottom nut should stay straight ahead as knuckle turns left and right.
The last new one I bought 6 months ago before smog test was an all metal style.
It just quit on me after 6 months. Maybe last week at Anza Borrego high temps under the hood killed. But it shouldn't have.
Any of those metal body o2's are junk, every time I end up putting my spare ceramic body...
My 1989 4.0 FSM says 2.0lbs of r12 for charge amount.
Ok, so r134a amount is 2.0 x .90 - (.25lb.) = 1.55 lbs. according to online conversion charts.
But on a Comanche forum I saw a FSB No:24-01-95 that shows 38 oz./2.38lbs
r134a refrigerant charge for 88-90 xj 4.0
What's the real refill...
I ended up JB welding the plastic end piece that fits in the cruise adapter under the dash The housing was broke in two at the firewall, so I spliced it with red plastic hose from a HF transfer pump and super glued it so it kept the linear dimension.
Anybody have an idea where I can locate a lower Speedo cable? Rock auto has one but it's 90 inches and both cables added up on mine is only 78 inches to gauge from these.
Has anyone used that 90 inches with success I will bypass C.Control if I have to. Thanks
