Something to think about here. On Craigslist I wa sable to find someone selling two cargo carriers that go into a receiver hitch. I was able to cut one end off or each , and weld them together.

They can go in 2 large flat rate boxes from USPS for $20 per, so $40 for both boxes shipped.
