I bought one of the HF ones, rented one from Oreilly's, and compared the two using my Jeep. They both read the exact same. YMMV.
When you cut the pipe before the cat, could you smell gasoline? If you could, Ecomike is spot on with an injector most likely being stuck open. His suggestion of pulling your spark plugs and checking them, both sight and smell, is a good one...
1. Buy quality unit bearings.
2. Torque to 175 ft lbs. If you don't own a torque wrench, buy or rent one. If you just run the axle nut on with an impact until it stops moving, then your unit bearings won't last, no matter which brand you buy.
