Update:
Found a '96 at the junkyard near the office I had to visit, and the connector was still on that one so I pulled it. Replaced my halfassery with that connector, and now I can't get it to stall for trying.
I still need to get some other items like the blower motor and washer pump...

Been staring at the FSM all day trying to figure out what the BK/OR wire is in that post you linked. I can't find anything in the fsm that shows that wire at G101 on the side of the block. Any ideas what it goes back to?
Started in on the grounds. Found the stud in the block loose. Nut was tight but stud was loose, and wires are crispy. I’m going to just replace all the ground cables and connectors and see what happens next.
I actually traced those two, they're clean as far as I can see. I think one of the original owners had an issue and corrected it. I reterminated that one and replaced the ig switch (again) and the issue still exists.
