    ac problem

Hmmm....x2. This could be why I lose airflow after awhile and then I hear what sounds like a door closing and the air flows freely again.

    Grooved Knuckles

I took a med-large bastard file and just smoothed those babies out. Sure, I took some of the tolerance away, but I fixed that with the little clips that come in the box with the new pads. No welding necessary.

How to best diagnose a dying starter?

Ding, ding, ding....we have a winner. The battery is the culprit. It fooled me because it would still put out enough juice to turn the motor over, but just barely, which led me to believe it was a starter issue. I had it tested at the Interstate Battery store and it was barely putting out...

How to best diagnose a dying starter?

So, my 99 Classic, DD, 4x4 that is stock has developed what best can be described as a "slow-to-turnover" condition. Historically, the starter turns the motor very quickly and it lights up fast; however, it seems that the starter is struggling to get the first revolution of the crank turning...

Need a source for a 99' clock spring

Popped the clock spring on my 99 Cherokee Classic daily driver. Typical symptoms: airbag light on and no electrics from horn to cruise. Funny thing is that it popped as I was backing out of Napa purchasing a new Throttle Position Sensor. Having difficulty finding one locally - anyone have a...

Lift help in North Atlanta, GA

Hey guys, looking to put in a 2" BDS lift on my stock, DD cherokee classic 4x4. I could easily take it to one of the specialty shops around town and pay a ridiculous up-charge to have it done, but, I like to do all my own maintenance but I've never done any suspension work and would love to...

    97 Bargain XJ

Time for an update. Got the Jeep home by towing it with my Excursion with me behind the wheel of the jeep and Wife driving the Excursion. Talk about a white knuckle ride.... anyway, pulled out the Autozone Gold Duralast battery and the shredded accessory belt that seemed hopelessly twisted...

    Blower fan making putting sound

I did not have to do this on my 99 classic w/ ac. It took some wiggling but the oem fan came out and the new VDO fan went in. 1 hour job.

    97 Bargain XJ

I sure don't think the guy got ripped off - he named his price. Further, he based his price on how much he needed to buy his brewing equipment, not how much the jeep was worth. Thanks for the encouragement. We're going to get it cleaned up and drive it as a 3rd car and have it for our son to...

    97 Bargain XJ

Sorry, it is not the condensor, the compressor. I actually don't know if it's bad, or if it just spun the bearing in the clutch. The pulley is locked up, which is what fried the belt. I like your ideas zluster...

    97 Bargain XJ

Looks like I could use this pulley bypass from rock auto just to get it on the road and running.

    97 Bargain XJ

For background, I drive a 99 Classic XJ, 4x4, 115k, daily driver all stock. Great car, I love it. It's my second one. My first was a 98 black sport with steelies, 4x2, AW4, etc. Also a great Jeep that met an early demise in a wreck with only 162k. So, a few months back, I was heading out...

    Death Wobble and such

My death wobble was completely cured with new tires. Went through all the same diagnostics you are and ultimately found that what were thought to be still in-spec tires were in fact not. I put on 235/75/15 Yokohama open country h/ts and the death wobble is completely gone. Even hitting broken...
