What Saudade is referring to is what are the other ECMs not doing? With the 99 ECM you have proven fuel/ pump and electrical system/CPS and cam sensor. That suggests something wrong those ECMs. Will they sell the 99 ECM? Ron

I like the Truetrac. A helical differential. About 550 bucks. It does require a reset up of backlash and preload. So bearings (rebuild) at this time would be beneficial. Ron

It does not appear he is trying to make a Lincoln locker. He wants to weld on brackets to the housing. This is very common and not a problem. Ron

I grab these kind of parts from the local pick and pull. I put the part in temporarily to test it and then have a known good spare. Last PCM was about 65 bucks. The sand dune XJ has a nice little parts store under the back seat and in the motor home. Ron

Wiggle the PRNDL and see if it starts in neutral. Thats the neutral safety switch. The next thing to do is jump the starter at the starter. The round end of an adjustable wrench works well. A remote starter switch also works better...

Chances are its the 1-2 solenoid. BEFORE you do any part buying do the solenoid test. An ohm meter at the TCU which is located above the gas pedal. A easy search will give you procedure. It takes a couple hours to change out the solenoids. They are under the tran pans. IF that is the problem...
