I just installed a D44 in mine with LSD. Took it out for the first time this weekend and was amazed at how well it did. If you are going to upgrade, i would not go with a 27 spline.
My uncle and I want to go up to big bear on Sunday. We have rear tow point but stock bumpers up front. Don't think we can do John Bull starting at gatekeeper though. Came down Gold Mountain last time we were there.
I ran 33" on my D35 with 27 spline, 3.07, and open diff for a long time before upgraded. Did fine. Just less worry when you go to a 29 spline or bigger.
I know that it seems high but here in Ca. the D44 is not easy to come by. And i also know that people will always try to come down in price which i am fine with but not a complete low ball price. And its a matching set of 4:10 gears.
I have a Dana 44 Rear axle from an '87 Jeep Cherokee XJ. I pulled it from a junk yard to use in my Jeep Wrangler but never installed it and now I don't need it since I have a Cherokee now. The axle is clean of all brackets and spring perches. It is only the axle housing with factory 4:10 gears...
I just did a swap on my 92' from a D35 to the 2000 8.25. The passenger is way long and the driver is way short. My stock cables did go the the center of the xj with the adjuster. Anyone know of which cables I could go with the get them hooked back up?
