I have a set of the 5-spoke steelies with the painted silver center caps. I have a set of the steelies with black center caps, but they're on the Jeep and I might be selling it this weekend. If the guy looking at it doesn't care which rims go on it, I'll swap 'em and let you know. If that...
Selling my '98 XJ Sport.
Moss green with grey interior
206K, engine is still in great shape
NP231 with t-case drop
AX-15 tranny
29 spline 8.25 rear axle
HP D30 in front
stock 3:07 gears
steering linkage as all poly TRE boots
3" R.C. coils in front
bastard packs and 3/4" Rusty's shackles in back...
x2 on the wack the back method. PB blast it, too. I use a large rubber mallot so as to not ruin the tire or rim. Only have the problem on the drivers side rear, though. I had to buy a drum puller when I did the rear brakes and even with that, it was a P.I.A. to pull it. Even with regular...
I did a similar "budget" lift on my '98. I combined two stock XJ packs: Cut-off main spring + next spring down as AALs on my original packs. That got me just 2.5" at first. It settled down almost a half inch after a few weeks. I added Rusty's 3/4 inch shackles to even things out.
In front I...
You have most of the bases covered.
Be prepared for immense shipping charges from Rusty. Factor that into your costs before you decide on the package. Check out 4wd.com for tire/wheel packages. I think they'll do lift packages if you call (don't quote me on that).
As for skids, start with...

I don't own them, but they were recommended on another forum and I am considering them.
Yes, they have one for the 8.25 ($55)
I thought Daewoo was a Korean car company...:spin1:
I've seen the same setup at JCWhitney for about $245 or something. IMHO anything is better than the stock XJ tie rod.
If the TRE are stock Grand Cherokee (ZJ or WJ?) they're fairly easy to replace. ZJ Steering linkage (V8, at least) is...
I did the same kind of lift in the back (added the next biggest leaf from the donor pack, too = 6 leaves!). Also love the ride.
I had the same "growl" in my '98 after the lift. I did a t-case drop and the problem went away.
If you want to go SYE, it would be better, and every XJ is different...
Go to NAPA or Autozone and rent some McPherson spring compressors - they'll refund you the full amount when you return them (=FREE!).
Removing the sway bar links, trackbar (at the axle) and lower shock mounts will help because you won't have to compress the springs so much. Make sure the...
Okay, you have to remove the studs. This is a pain and you'll likely have at least one that won't come out. Fire up the blow torch and get it almost glowing. On my '98, I ended up using a pipe wrench on a heated stud - it was the only way to get it to come out.
If the threads aren't already...
If you just want 30" tires on a street pounder, stick with the least amount of lift you need. I have about a 2.5" lift and my 30's look like they could get bigger. An Old Man Emu 2" (medium) lift gets you some of the best springs out there, will fit 30's underneath and won't change your...
