    Rear Cage builders...

No doubt old thread - mine is still alive and well - no changes to the back end other than some moss and tree rash... When I cut mine I had a plan that looked nothing like it is - I just kept cutting more and more till it looked right... Just wing it with a little cosmetic flair and you'll be...

PICS: DIY Hydraulic Assist, Box Modifications, Ram selection, Saginaw Rebuild kit....

Re: PICS: DIY Hydraulic Assist, Box Modifications, Ram selection, Saginaw Rebuild kit.... There should be half black and half chrome - they alternate as one is a few tenth's smaller... I can't remember the number (26 comes to mind) but basically if you load them in the worm and piston assembly...

PICS: DIY Hydraulic Assist, Box Modifications, Ram selection, Saginaw Rebuild kit....

Re: PICS: DIY Hydraulic Assist, Box Modifications, Ram selection, Saginaw Rebuild kit.... Yes you must internally limit the steering cylinder because it will do one of two things if you do not - it will blow the ball joints out of the knuckle or bust off the cylinder mounting brackets... I...

OK - thanks so 1991 - 1994 it is - Besides the country model what other loaded options were there... (and the Briarwood until 1993 IIRC) Matt

    Opinions on 1991 - 1995 XJ purchase

Yep - Mine was pretty nice when I got it - but that was also back in 1996! anyways it is a bit different nowadays (exo, chopped rear, 38.5 SX's, OD green - ect...) but I'll still have it forever...

    Opinions on 1991 - 1995 XJ purchase

I had my daily driver totalled by a wonderful specimen of humanitity who chose not to stop after losing their 6x10ft landscaping trailer at 70mph on the freeway - all the was left was to have the ins co cut the check... Anyhow I have a 1991 briarwood that I love (some of you have seen it has...

roll cage materials sched 40 pipe vs. dom

Come awn guys - we all know its just an ego thing... everyone just wants to be one of the cool kids so saying you used pipe just has a stigma attatched to it even if the engineering is sound...

    Hydro Assist boxes...

Not looking to step on anyones toes - but here goes... I have a pair of boxes that the casting had been drilled and tapped for hydro assist (in the milling machine) and one where the caps were done - the front cap has an AN bung welded to it and the top cap is tapped... What I am offering is an...

roll cage materials sched 40 pipe vs. dom

Well mine if from the era of the thread so here you have it - still taking a beating and 8 or 9 rolls later (not to mention a fair bit of busted glass even with the exo...) Matt (ps A-53 is the structural grade of pipe you need to ask for)

    master cylinder upgrade

You want a non-abs donor - as the master does have abs stuff associated with it - the computer still has to make a physical input into the hydraulic system - the reservior may be the same but the valving and the actuator are intergrated....

    tire sizes & capability

I went directly from 33 boggers to 38.5sx's and never looked back - the amount of times I was dragging the belly out here went down dramaticaly... I am not saying to go and do this but I do still run the OEM 30 housing, carrier, and tubes up front... Lock it up and go to a 35 tsl for the trail...

    making drive lines

Well - think what it has to do - if you still have short arms: driveline is longest at full compression If you have a long arm system you need to measure as some are at max comp. and some are longest at droop Take out the springs and measure the extended length (yoke centerline to yoke...

    Anyone Make a Homemade Welder?

So how do you power your mm175 on the trail? I use a MM250 or a lincoln 350 TIG for everything in the shop - but being able to have 110v dc power and a small stick buzz box to get you home out in the boonies is nice - especially when the net total of parts was ~65$ Matt :gag:

    polishing a D30... or?

I actually took a rod and put it through the ball joint holes in the inner "C" and blocked up the axle shaft in the tube so it was centered - I could then find the path that was centered on the ujoint cap holes and the little bit of clearence needed behind the ears of the axle shaft and the...

    polishing a D30... or?

Ok guys I have the very axle you are debating... I took my OEM HP D30 and cut the inner knuckles off of it... I then mocked up with warn XJ inner shafts where the ujoint centerline and the ball joint/kingpin axis needed to be - it puts the D44 inner knuckle 1.25" beyond the placement of the...
