for those with 31 or 33inch tires with stock gearing

When I put 31's on my 2.5" OME lift 5th became unusable for me and 4th was also a problem (it doesn't help being at altitude). I have the manual transmission. I put on an FIPK2 and a bored/honed TB shortly afterwards. (search for fastman throttlebodies he specializes in Dodge but has one for the...

    4WD Front Jumps/Skips

Thanks...I don't think it's an old clutch problem as this happens in any gear while driving along at up to 15mph and not only when changing gear. It also only happens in part-time 4wd. My Jeep is driving as well now in 2WD as it did when it only had 50K on it (better since the OME kit and...

    4WD Front Jumps/Skips

Hi, I've had my '95 XT 4.0 Manual for the last 8 years and have nearly 190K on it. It has a complete OME 2.5" lift with BFG AT/KO 31s and had very few problems in that time. Off road time is mainly backcountry trail access here in Colorado. Engaging Part Time 4WD last week showed up a problem...

    Transfer case noise

I only noticed the oil leak when I shifted into 4WD and heard a growling noise from the Transfer Case. I went back into 2WD until I could get back to a parts-place (this was ontop of a snowpacked Loveland Pass). I thought I might have trashed the transfer-case but 1000miles later it was doing...

    Transfer case noise

I think mine is "howling". The seal went and I lost most of the fluid... A 1000miles later and a second seal and transfer case end-housing, the transfer case is now howling noticeably above 65mph. I'm just looking to swap in another used/rebuilt unit. I assume that this is the transfer case...

31" tires and effect on RPM??

Hi, I went to 31's on my '95 4.0 manual. At higher altitudes and hilly/rolling highways I found that 5th gear became mostly unuseable. I was also having to downshift to 3rd much more often than before. I installed the K&N FIPK II and a Fastman TB and this brought the performance back...

    Steering Stabilizer

I replaced stock with another stock stabilizer and it lasted no more than 25K miles - probably shoulds have replaced it earlier than that. I have an OME on now - too early to tell about longevity. You're going to notice a difference in driveability with any new stabilizer but the OME have good...

    Performance mods I'm looking into

I second the fastman throttle body. Very good quality work and support from a one-man shop. I have the FIPK II combined with the fastman TB and it made a noticeable difference to my driving ( one gear higher when climbing hills - no need to downshift as often).

Reply from Amsoil dealer. What about it?

Hi, I changed over to Amsoil at 140K shortly after changing out the rear main seal, valve cover gasket and oil filter gasket (all were weeping) To changeover, I used a GUNK engine flush at half-strength prior to the change. Then ran synthetic for about 1000 miles and used the remainder of the...

93 XJ WILL NOT START! Please help ASAP!! Dead in Parking Lot!

BTW the blower on HI may be a red herring. There's a blower motor resistor pack under the passengers dash. If this fails, the blower will only work on high. It may be another pointer to an electrical problem (rather than rotor/wires) or the blower motor resistor pack may have just decided to...

93 XJ WILL NOT START! Please help ASAP!! Dead in Parking Lot!

Only a couple more of the obvious things: - I picked up a cap and rotor set from AutoZone and the rotor (while correct for the set) did not fit my distributor. The original rotor had a long tab (never seen anything like it) to engage into the distributor cap. The replacement did not and the...

Who has the highest Miles on an OEM 4.0L...no head/cylinder work.

Mines a '95 4.0L stick @ 150K miles and pulling stronger now than it did at 75K miles. Switched to Synthetic at 140K without a problem and believe in regularly redlining up through the gears. Aside from normal maintenance items, only problem has been a water pump seal. Mark

Downfalls of Swing away tire carriers

I weighed up the pros/cons and cost of the tire carrier - but decided against it in the end. As it's a 31" tire and wont fit in the usual place, I just have it strapped down in the back. There's still enough room for me.... Mark

    odd sway bar diameter ?

Thanks for all the info and help. I'm going to send back the 28mm kit and try and see if I can get the 25mm ones around the bar. If not, I'll just pick up the universal ones where I need them... thanks again. Mark
