Are you sure the it wasn't blowing through the defrost vents? Could be a vacuum problem. Under acceleration or climb, the vacuum drops, and if there's a leak, it will drop enough to let the HVAC flapper door flip to it's default setting, the defrost vents.
Please believe me I have searched but its hard to find a thread with the same exact problem. My 99 4.0L won't start unless I apply throttle, and it will not idle at all. It runs fine when I apply throttle but as soon as I lift my foot, the engine dies.
Currently I'm leaning toward the IAC...

I' m pretty certain it is the right side wheel bearing now. Is there a particular brand that's preferred with these? I was thinking Moog or Timken. Looked at Mopar but it's hard to justify that big of a price jump over the others.
For a little while now, I've noticed a deep humming, growling noise coming from the front end. After some canyon driving, I noticed the sound would vanish in right-hand curves. I'm thinking unit bearing or u-joints? I've checked play some, but it's so little, it's hard to tell how much is tire...
