i have this exact problem, except the belt is brand spanking new... only squeals when the compressor starts, or when i accelerate too hard. (mine is a 99xj w/ AC) was a solution ever found for your squeal?

not to hijack your thread but.. I've got a 99' which i recently replaced the belt, i swear i have it plenty tight, but everytime the compressor kicks on it squeals something horrible. Could it be bearings in the compressor? i am hoping not.. After driving for for 15 minutes the noises go...
