Back in the day someone made a cross member for shock mounting that went all the way across and have several locations to mount the shocks. It also turned the upper eyes 90 degrees. I may have been Hinkley when he owned Off Road General Store. Anyway it gave the ability to run the shocks...

I did mine pre any brackets but way back when the brackets worked with the YJ and not the XJ. Could be the same issue now. Mines really old with the P(?) pump. I made a bracket off the intake near the throttle body. The motor is a 95 and there were a couple of holes there. On mine the line...

If you don't like them clanging metal to metal I just bolt a 1/4" thick plate on the end of the tower. It chews them up over time but not horrible. I also put a piece of round delrin plastic in the center hole to make a hard bump.
