Installed my Napier Precision fender flares, lots of pics and a couple of vids

Yeah, I hear ya about the bumper trim. The front and rear bumpers are going to get ditched. As for the lift to fit 35's, thanks for the feedback. I'm looking around at long arm 6" lifts. ...lars

Installed my Napier Precision fender flares, lots of pics and a couple of vids

I did a write-up and a short video re-cap covering the install of our Napier Precision fender flares. You can see it all here: http://www.bc4x4.com/pv/xj/napier-flares Along the way, I also managed to do the classic windshield tank puncture: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSuP9PEKdcM I'm...

First repair job on my XJ...the Neutral Safety Switch (NSS)

Dang, now I'm thinking that I should've put some anti-seize on the shaft before I slid the NSS back on. ...lars

First repair job on my XJ...the Neutral Safety Switch (NSS)

Heh heh. Thanks, you're making me feel good about my leak! You're right. I did manage to undo one of them when I could shove the side cutters in far enough. ...lars

First repair job on my XJ...the Neutral Safety Switch (NSS)

Thanks! I hope it'll help someone out because shooting the photos consumed about 1/3 of the time that I spent doing the job. ;-) ...lars

First repair job on my XJ...the Neutral Safety Switch (NSS)

After switching out my battery and starter, I finally realized my no-start problem was caused by a faulty NSS. Duh. Anyway, here's a write-up I did on the process: http://bc4x4.com/tech/2010/jeep-neutral-safety-switch-nss/ I've included lots of large photos to help anyone who wants to do...

Ticking sound from an a/c component

Thanks for that. Looks like there's one wire there that's going to an a/c related thing, which is why I thought it might be a/c related. ...lars

Ticking sound from an a/c component

The thing in the red box is making a very distinct ticking sound. Also my a/c doesn't work. When I turn on the a/c, the compressor starts but shuts off after 2 secs or so. Then a few secs later it comes on, then shuts off, and over and over again. Anyone have an idea of what that component is...

Lil bumpsteer, do i need t-bar drop? (pics)

FWIW, just having the drag link and track bar parallel won't guarantee that you have no bumpsteer. They're different lengths and mount in different locations so they could have different amounts of horizontal movement for the same amount of vertical suspension compression. Basically, you can...

Are these rocker dents going to affect structural strength?

This is up in Vancouver, Canada, and its price is pretty good considering the condition of the rest of the vehicle. The owner's says her boyfriend's dad is a bodyman who might pull the dents for me if I buy it. Lift is a Rough Country but I didn't check to see if it's a full leaf or...

Are these rocker dents going to affect structural strength?

Hi guys. I'm considering buying this '97 XJ but it's got 3 dents. A big one in the tailgate, which is no biggie, since I can just replace the whole gate. But it also has a pair of matching, fist-sized dents, right where you would jack up a unibody car. Basically, what happened is someone tried...

    roof sliders?

Depends on where you live. Here, there are lots of tight, off-camber trails where the odds are leaning into a tree are quite high. All the caged trucks open-topped 4x4's I 'wheeled had paint rubbed off from leaning into trees. ...lars

How concerned should I be about body flex? XJ vs FJ80

Thx for the replies. If I get an XJ I'll be putting some rocker bars on it, so I guess I'll plate the frame, first. ...lars
