I found on the Dorman brand regulator/motor that I just replaced, the connector would never fully seat with the red lock mechanism engaged. The PO used a zip tie to hold them together. I ended up taping.
Thanks for the tip with the Angry Goose. I had the same sound and just assumed it was coming from near the ignition. No more goose now after some silicon spray!
OK after a bit more research it appears to be around 8.5 quarts. So taking out about 3 quarts is about only 35% of the capacity. I'll have to do a few more drain/fills.
How much total tranny fluid does it take if you don't have a optional cooler?
I'm trying to calculate what percentage of old fluid I am removing with each drain and fill. I'm getting about 3 quarts out each time, but I don't know the total volume. So far I've only done two drain and fills.
How difficult it is to replace the pulley only? Looking at it, it was not obvious to me how to get one off and back on. Are special tools required? The bearings on mine sound like they are going out.
Well, it turns out my issue was not with the oil filter alone. After I replaced the filter and drove it for awhile I was still getting low pressure readings. The previous owner had replaced the sensor and still had the same problem. I bought a cheap mechanical gauge and the pressure was...
Just to add, I had the same issue at start up with my recently purchased XJ. Last night I replaced the STP filter with a NAPA Gold filter and so far oil pressure shoots right up after a second or so.
