I have no idea what is "IN" the engine, all I know is what year the crank is and head and block. I saw that the windage tray has two washers on it for clearance that's pretty much it. No idea how the block was prepared, cam or other parts. I am going to have the shop tear down the...
Ok,
So I am going to pull the engine back out and take it to a machine shop to have them tear the engine down to determine the cause of the noise. I wanted them to spec out everything to see what's exactly in it, CR, bore, etc.
So if "you" were to have this done what would you do? I don't...
I have a '99 XJ 2 door and I replaced the door seal with an aftermarket one and it's super stiff. I cannot shut the door anymore without slamming it. From the inside the door handle nearly breaks off to open the door.
I have tried already to adjust the door pin and if I adjust it out I can...
No clue, if I have some other type of noise other than the obvious rocker/pushrod issue I should tear it down to investigate. Who knows what cam is in it. It's got a little lope at low idle but that's all I know. I am kicking myself for not getting this squared away before I put it in the...
Well I got the truck back from the shop, the guy said the rockers were all over the place again. I guess I'm going to park it until I can pull the motor again to tear it down to find the noise and have the head looked at to get the proper size pushrods installed. Not looking forward to that...
It sounds like it, they were also referencing someone's 2.5L so maybe they were mixing my motor with their other experience. I didn't get to see it with the valve cover off at the shop. I will call them tomorrow to see when I can pick it up. I don't know if I want to trailer it or not. I...
Ok, sounds like they don't quite know what they are doing. So the question is who does that I can source? I know there are some great people out there but I don't know any of them in the Midland, MI area. I cannot relay preload info or measure the pushrod proper length on my own without any...
An update...
I decided to take the truck to a good mechanic and machine shop to measure the pushrods to see what was wrong. The initial thought of the shop owner said it sounds like valvetrain. For some reason the day before I took it over there I thought it sounded like a piston. I was...
Ok, call me a novice on this one. I didn't check preload because I thought these rockers were like the 3.4L engines. Tighten the nut to specified torque and forget it. Please explain.
I got the motor running but the lifter noise is VERY loud. I tightened the rockers just like you are supposed to but with the pictures of the previous owner it looks like the problem goes deeper now. The noise is almost as loud as the exhaust. What could be the problem? Wrong size pushrods...
There's no markings on the flexplate, I was already running the '90 XJ flexplate on my '96 stroker until I noticed it was cracked. It's a 12CW crank but that shoudn't matter since I am using the Renix distributor and computer. the timing was good before I removed the flexplate. Parts stores...
Specs first,
1987 Jeep Comanche had 4.0L 2wd ba-10/5
Installed aw-4 trans, 242 case and all under hood wiring and fuse box from 1990 XJ. Ran fine until I noticed the flex plate knock. Thought it was a rod bearing so I decided to install my stroker motor. '96 block and head, kept all the...
Awesome!! That's exactly what I was looking for, just didn't know what one that fit. I bought it from my trusty Amazon which I have a long standing account.

Thanks, now I can leak check my whole system. I know my bottle...
The rad in my '98 blew up like that. I had the A/C on and it was in the 80's and raining. I guess the cooling fan wasn't keeping up. I looked out to see it blowing steam for 10 feet. I ran out and shut it off and noticed it was about 260*. After that I replaced it with a better radiator...
