Thanks for all the input guys. I am going to try and find out if the head has ever been replaced. Its good to learn that the emissions wont be as bad now. Does that mean I could delete the upper two cats and still pass smog in CA? As far as price I am going to start low, but like I said I wont...

My goal was to pay no more than 5500, but if the head and emissions issues are as bad as you guys are saying then I guess I’ll have to hold out. It’s just becoming really hard to find a stock xj these days.

Thanks for all your feedback. Its in pretty good shape. No rust or body damage and the paint is pretty decent. its got 180xxx miles on it. Completely stock.
