The Skyjacker subframe has been out of production for many years. It was part of their “Rock Ready” kit. It was a red beefy subframe and used mid length lower arm. I bought one used in about 2000 for my previous XJ. I liked the way it worked but the rod ends were junk. When we bought our 99 XJ...
It’s been too many years to remember exactly on the pressure. I do know it was over 200 with the valve open. I was running Mopar Performance valves, springs and retainers. Those were made for the 5.2/5.9. Back then fewer options were common and I don’t remember anyone using LS stuff back then...
brownyz13,
I built mine about the time Crane had a bunch of cam failures. I went pretty top end on it with eagle rods, forged JE pistons with a 30cc dish and the biggest cam Crane sold. I did that to bleed off the combustion pressure with the cam overlap. The usual double roller timing set and...
Summit Racing’s website shows more than 10 in stock. Might just grab one while I can. Likely won’t though, I want to chat with Russ first and see if it’s worth the coin to go off the shelf with a complete head or just keep the stock head with a rebuild since I’m not going to stroke it.
I have a dead 4.0 right now and have looked at the 5.2/5.9 idea and the LS too. I like the magnums due to the control system (JTEC) being the same as my 99. I have the overhead console I would want to work as well as the gauges. The magnum computer will drive the gauges without having to piggy...
Looks like a high pinion D30 to me. If so it’s likely the factory axle. Should be a build code stamped in the long side tube on all Dana built axles. It’s hard to see/find on some but with the numbers you can look it up online.
Curious why you want this and think it is modern standards. Third brake lights are not supposed to be on when the brakes are not applied. Modern versions do flash a few times before going solid to get more attention, but the fact that they are off until the brakes are applied is by design. They...
Any pics of the aux radiator and how it’s plumbed? I’ve wondered about doing something like that to increase capacity. My old tired 270K 4.0 could use some help climbing grades on the highway in the summer.
That’s an older Skyjacker Rock Ready subframe and arms. They came with the rod ends (Heim is a brand of rod end) at both ends of the arms (third pic). Looks like a PO swapped a Johnny joint at one end (fourth pic). IIRC they are a 1.25” threaded shank. I had the kit on a previous XJ. Looks like...
This post https://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/springs-heights-their-spring-rates-613756/ claims the RE1310 has a rate of 164#. That is plenty soft if true, which is why I think the spring is not the problem.
I wish PAC spring still made Jeep coils. Appears they don’t. Not in their catalog anyway.
I was originally planning on running it as a 3 link but didn’t want to weld on the passenger upper as they suggested. As a mostly street Jeep I don’t see the need to go 3 link. I know it should flex better, but I doubt it would chage the ride at all. My lowers are right at 8 degrees. I’d go down...
Thanks for the ideas guys. Here’s further fodder to add and clarify.
I’m running Pathfinder ATs from Discount Tire in the 31x10.50x15 size. Since they are not P metrics, they only have 2 sidewall plys. They do ride a bit more firm than the previous BFG AT’s in the same size but not much. I’m...
For starters, here’s my current setup:
Front:
SFR four link long arms with Metalcloak duraflex ends
Rubicon Express RE1310 4.5” coils
Bilstien 24-188197 shocks (5100 I’m pretty sure)
Rough Country adjustable track bar
RE sway bar disconnects
Rear:
BDS 4.5” spring pack
Stock shackles (Yeah they...
