Got the bolt out !!!!!
(and promptly stuffed a rag in the starter hole in the inspection plate!).
I had tried some various magnets, etc with no luck. Then I removed the bolts at the bottom of the inspection plate and pried it open as much as possible. I was then able to get a finger in there...
Been reading some other posts. Is the inspection plate the sheet metal that sits vertcally between the tranny and oil pan? This was the shiney silver part (after I got all the grease and fiklth off of it while cleaning the oil pan). I have the same bolt interference problem and saw some...
HELP!
I just finished replacing the rear main seal in the XJ. While putting the oil plan back in place, I dropped one of the small bolts and it bounced off my hand into the opening where the starter mounts.
Attemps to retrieve with a telescoping magnet were unsucessfull.
Any ideas? Previous...
I have it and it is pretty good. Not too pricey compared to other options out there. Departure angle could be better, I'm running it with the high lift and jerry can attachement as well. Sorry, no pics.
UPDATE - So between the Haynes manual and the FSM, I thinnk I have this figured out.
I've got the radiatior out, that was pretty straight forward.
Trying to remove the harmonic balancer, have the HB removal tool, but the HB spins when I torque on the removal tool. Do I need to employ a pry...
My searches do not seem to be yielding the results I am hoping for ..... and as I read this I think I'm starting to sound really stupid, but here goes....
I have a 95 with the HO 4.0L engine, pushing 175,000 miles.
What started as a simple power steering hose replacement has snowballed into a...
x100 for the 3.07s and 33s being a PITA. I'm moving away from the "I can deal with it if it saves me some $ and I can aford to lock them" camp and planning to regear and get a 29 spline 8.25 for the rear (or better). Lockers may just have to wait.
Thanks again for all the input. It is time to start looking at some beefier axles and doing this right.
Or I could go back down to 30s instead of the 33s (lol).
I’m currently running 33s on an open/open D30/D35 (27 spline) set up with 3.07 gears in my 95. While it is well known that the D30 and D35 are not that great for running lockers with the larger tires, I was wondering if there was any benefit (read that as less chance of breakage) to keeping the...
I've read all about the program (OK, the wife has read all about it) and we are good to go. Her XJ qualifies and the vehicle we are looking at gets better mileage. Looking at about $3,500 if we go that way.
There seems to be some question about how the dealers are going to handle the money and...
Thanks for the replies. I like the idea of a swap party .... but there pretty much is not anything on there worth keeping/trading out. It is bone stock .... maybe the tires .....
So we are thinking about doing the "Cash for Clunkers" with my wife's 96 XJ and after hearing that the vehicle must be scrapped by the dealer, I'm not so sure that I want to have her XJ taken off the road. Granted I am interested in the possible $4,500 the CFC program could get me toward a new...
Cal - Was your D35 locked at the time?
I've been debating the axle swap, locker, gears thing for a few years now and never seem to have the time or the money. In a good year, I wheel maybe 3 or 4 times (couple of weekend trips and a couple of day trips usually) and have another vehicle for DD...
