First step, disconnect the negative battery cable. Then drain the transmission fluid. Remove front and rear driveshafts. Disconnect all cables and wires running to both the t-case and tranny. This includes NSS, speed sensor, cooling lines, shift linkage, etc.. Remove the dipstick. Decide...
You dont need any special tools. Just use a putty knife to feel around the edges of the panels and snap out the clips. There should be a total of 10.
Once you pry the clips out, remove the lock and door handle rods from the inside of the panel.

I've had similar problems, but on my 231. It has the RE Hack 'n Tap on it. Bent two mainshafts so far. Only way to tell was to split the case open and put the main shaft in a lathe. The problem turned out to be a driveshaft that was too long. Even with the slip yoke on it, it bottomed out...
