Is it possible for a starter to retract and then reengage a tad? And if it is any idea what would cause the same problem on two different starters?

Hey all, my 87 4.0 with a manual tranny has developed a grinding issue. On occasion after startup i hear a grinding sound coming from the transmission tunnel. It doesnt matter if its in neutral or in gear with the clutch in, so i thought maybe there was something wacked out with the starter...

Throttle body is clean. Even if it was dirty I cant imagine that would cause 3 entirely new sensors to come apart. I was beginning to think there was something wrong with the TB itself, except why then does the old one not do the same thing?

Im in the process of changing my evap and heater core and noticed the new evap core doesnt have the hole for the capillary tube. Is it possible to bend the tube and put in the fins on the side? Or is bending it gonna cause major issues? Thanks

Went for a drive today and noticed a hissing from under the dash where my evaporator core is located and the compressor wouldnt stop running except for a couple of times. The hissing takes a couple of seconds to go away after the ac is turned off, and goes away (albeit rarely) when driving down...

Im shocked you got 15 years out of an airtex pump. I tried one once and couldnt even get 15 days out of it.

Are they loose? If so I had the same problem. Just go the your local parts store and get some black plastic washers and cut out a section to slide them over the peg on either the top or the bottom. It works like a charm and you cant even tell they are there.

I noticed over a road trip the other weekend that when I run the heat on my 87' my dash gets VERY hot to the touch. Almost hot enough that I think twice about touchng the radio cuz it might burn my finger or something. Is this normal or is the sealer stuff thats supposed to keep the heat going...

Im completely not opposed to used stuff. I actually like going to the bones yard and finding stuff, just not sure which parts from what vehicles will work, and havent hit the search button yet.
