So I put a new 195 thermostat in, burped the system and topped it off with 50/50. It now idles about 210. It runs a little cooler maybe 200 ish when I am on the road. Today it was 65 degrees. I assume I need to burp it again or the new thermo calibration is a little off. It did idle near 195...
I'll put a new thermostat in this weekend and let y'all know the results. I'll build the heater 3 way hose assembly later, I need to figure out what parts I need to get especially the valve to get water to my heater core. I assume the dealer 3 way with the valve is expensive, if they still make...
Good input, I'll pull the thermostat and take a look at it.
I have seen numerous write ups concerning crazy thermostat results with various manufacturers.
Is there a good thermostat manufacturer that you or anyone else recommend?
I did a search before writing this up, if there is a good link on this just let me know.
Yesterday my vacuum actuated valve for the heater core broke, the one with the three way splitter 6 inches from the plastic fill bottle. Truck got hot fast, pulled into my friends house 5 inutes away...
I intend to add a cable set-up and just do away with the vacuum. I Kinda like that mechanical concept versus the vacuum. I too had a S-10 with a vacuum front diff back in 87'. It was really cool when the vacuum system failed on me on a super steep climb at 10,000 in the mountains of Colorado...
ok, I worked on it today and had good results, I think. The disco was engaged, looks like the vacuum pulled it into engaging the last time I drove it. I pulled the vacuum line and it allowed the disco to dis-engage. Not sure what caused it, i do remember the 4x4 light flickered a few times on...
I'm going to work on it today and I will let you know what I find. I may have to open the diff, when I put it back together does it need a gasket? or can I just use sealant? or both?
1988 XJ 4.0 100% stock. I searched but did not find a solid answer like I normally do so I have to ask.....
While driving I hear clicking and feel resistance from the front drive train. (I have the Dana 30 stock diff).
If you raise the front end up and spin the wheels the front drivetrain...
My friend had something just like what you discribe, it was used to disable the interior lights when the doors are opened. Why you ask, the vehicle was used by the FBI and the lights don't turn on when you open the doors for night-time operations.
Hmm, how is the MSD on the freeway and why not use it everyday? I am interested in more performance but I have also heard that the stock set-up is perfect for the 88 XJ's.
My 88 does almost the same thing, I just push the shifter all the way forward and the key comes right out. I believe the detent for the Park position is worn and does not catch in the right spot unless given the extra push forward.
