The emissions technicians at 2 different testing facilities told me that the high performance cat's fail prematurely. Based on my experience, I believe him. If they are as good as factory or even a universal, I'm curious why they don't warrenty them for longer than a year?

Mine held a 31", but that was all street driving. I have a 93' 4-banger, 5-speed that it came on. Someone told me these were not the Jeep factory tire carrier, but rather an option that some dealers offered!?

There are some pics of my bumper/tire carrier. I have since gotten rid of the original rear bumper and now have a HD Custom one.
I'd check your CPS next, on the bellhousing. Sometimes if you unplug it and re-connect it, you can get it to start. When my XJ had no spark, and was getting fuel, I did the same diagnostics and it wound up being my CPS gone bad.
