    Thanks for the memories

My son fatally redesigned my cherokee through impact this summer. I finally found a buyer this weekend. I replaced it with a vehicle from the land of the rising sun, so I'll be moving on to another news group. (I did test "drive" a Compass but it is no Jeep and the other offerings were outside...

    Torque Wrench

You choose - clicker - more expensive, needs calibration, "easier" to use. Beam - pointer, pretty much the oppsite. I happly used the beam type for years but when I lost it in a fire I replaced it with a clicker. With the clicker type reset it to zero when not in use.

97 Cherokee - everything but driver side is...

The vehicle is complete. I am not interested in parting it out. No time or space.

97 Cherokee - everything but driver side is...

excellent. About 53k miles 4.0 auto air etc. Body man I trust says there is too much damage to repair. It was hit on the B pillar on the driver's side. I do not have time or space to part out. Looking to sell the whole thing. Morgantown WV (about 1 hr south of Pittsburgh) email...

Sad day, thanks for the memories

Amen - the suprising thing is no air bags deployed on either vehicle! I'm sure the other vehicle is also totalled. All the front end energy absorbing stuff was smashed. I should have mentioned - I still own the car, lost the collision insurance gamble. I do not have the space or time to part...

Sad day, thanks for the memories

My 19 yo totalled my 97 Cherokee last night. Fortunately no injuries. Shame, 97 model with only 53000 miles. I joined this group for advice before buying the car two years ago. I must say that you guys are great and the technical advice is super. Any idea what I should expect for salvage value...

    Rear axle bearings

those are some excellent tips and photos. Thanks guys. I've only messed with the 8" Ford rear in my 68 Mustang. C-clip axles are new territory for me.

Cheapest place to find an A/C Condenser

I recently compared some parts using rockautoparts.com to advanced auto. Rock was ~25% cheaper, no tax, but have to pay for shipping. Then there is the waiting for parts thing.

    Rear axle bearings

Hopefully I'll be on it this weekend. Thanks for the offer. I'll try to take some photos of the process to share with others. Cheers

    Rear axle bearings

4xBob - thanks for the suggestion, I'll do that first PW1XJ99 - Thanks for the list. You make it sound so easy! If the u-joints are ok I'll follow your list. The hint about not roting anything was not on the step procedure that I posted. Thanks agaiin.

    Rear axle bearings

I've searched, really. I've found some info, but not for the Dana 35 in a 1997 Cherokee w/ABS. I'm getting a whop-whop sound from the rear. It's a sometimes thing so I do not think it is the tires. In addition, the sound is new to the Jeep, but the tires are old. The last time I heard this...

Serpentine belt on thanks to search

Searched and found instructions for replacing the serpentine belt. Went well, but somethings I did not see in the previous posts. This is for a 97. 1. Let things cool off. I'm still recovering from burns due to not waiting long enough. 2. I was able to loosen the center - idler pulley bolt with...

Evaporator - looks like I'm joining the club

No ac took my 97 SE to a reputible shop. They put the dye in the system and didn't find any obvious leaks. So they suspect it is the evaporator, which they stated was a common problem with 96+ cherokees. My search of this site seems to confirm this. So far $110 which will include a charge of the...
